Listen Closely

16 x 20 acrylic on canvas Inspired by a collection of music items I have in my home. I thought it would be a good collective way to get a message across. If you look closely you will see.

A Fallen Robin’s Egg

12 x 12 acrylic on canvas  This was of a photo I had taken in my front yard. My Gardenia tree had a bird’s nest that I had been watching and one day I saw that one of the eggs had fallen out and landed on a branch. The flower in the photo represents Jesus. He’s always watching out for us.

Ms. Betty

12 x 12 acrylic on canvas A painting in honor of a family friend. Her gifts were many. The one that stood out the most for me was her gift of hospitality. At her repass, there were two doors, for me they represented her entering into Heaven.

Lerici

16 x 20 acrylic on canvas How cool is this painting? This one was a fun one to paint. Original photo taken by Alexis.

Empty

24 x 28 acrylic on canvas This is a painting I did after arriving back from my annual trip to Las Vegas.  That empty chair spoke to me, so I decided to paint it.  I call this painting “Empty”.  I am going to leave it to your own interpretation.

Coming or Going?

16 x 20 acrylic, decorative art, beads and stones I just wanted a thought provoking painting to ask the question is she coming or going? Plus I wanted to mix those colors together and try the use of other elements.

Follow Your Dreams

16 x 20 acrylic on canvas This is a painting I did for Gabby. She took this photo while on vacation. I asked her if I could paint it. Pay attention people this young lady is going places. Original photo taken by Gabby.

When The Music Stops

24 x 36 acrylic on canvas What happens when the music stops? I wanted to paint something that was thought provoking.  What happens to life when the music stops playing?   Silence takes over.  What moves you through life when there is no music?  What sustains you?

Breathe

10 x 20 acrylic on canvas  Throughout my journey one of the things God would whisper to me was to breathe. When life gets heavy I make sure to take the time to concentrate on Him and breathe. Holding the ice cream in this painting shows the intensity of the moment we find ourselves in....and who doesn’t love ice cream?

The Word Is Like Sweet Nectar

16 x 20 acrylic on canvas I was asked to do a painting about butterflies.  The person that asked me to paint it is blind, but only by sight.  She is remarkable having had sight at some point in her life, I was able to do a painting that reflected where she is in life today.  I did an old tattered bible with butterflies surrounding it.  The butterflies are drawn to it.  The bible is in flight heading towards a heart shaped rock mountain. There is a hummingbird orchestrating the butterflies while teaching them what the Word means.   This was a fun piece.

On My Way Home

16 x 20 acrylic on canvas This is the scene that I see everyday on my way home. One day the sky was a perfect blue. I just had to paint it.

 Búðakirkja Church

20 x 24 acrylic and pumice on canvas, Búðakirkja is a small wooden church located on the south side of Snæfellsnes Peninsula- Iceland.   It is my understanding that this is one of the most photographed places in Iceland.  My niece Alexis took a photo while visiting Iceland in March and sent it to me to paint.  This one was a fun one.

Mom and Me

16 x 20 acrylic and crackle paste on canvas This painting is of a photo that was taken of my mother and I. We were heading to Germany to meet my father who was in the armed forces. I went to school there. I also learned to speak the language. I have since forgotten most of it.

Pool Time

16 x 20 acrylic on canvas My brother asked me to paint him a picture for his new home. He sent me a picture of a flower. I thought to myself “really dude, a flower?” So this is what I came up with. Much cooler I think. I’m glad he was happy with the finished product.

Pops

12 x 16 acrylic and crackle paste on canvas I found this old picture of my father and decided to paint it. This is one of my favorite paintings. I think because it captures the essences of who my father was. Some would say that he was one of the original sexy chocolates. :) This painting made my father smile and I’m glad.

Janet…

12 x 16 acrylic and crackle paste on canvas

Nephew

20 x 24 acrylic on canvas This is a painting of my nephew Tay!  He lives in Arizona, so our interactions have been long distance except for the visits here and there.  Tay is going to college for “Photography”.   His Professor, Richard Pence, took a series of photos of him.  There was this one photo of him that spoke to me about how I actually see him, so I painted it.  Tay is this amazing human who loves deeply.  He is shy, but man he’s not going to let that stop him from achieving his goals.  This is what he wrote about his photos. “Feel real nice with these portraits.  I got a bad habit of starving my confidence/ego, but when I do feel it, it feels like a gourmet meal.”  How deep is that!   Kid you are going places.  Continue to feel, learn, believe, and love.  Let God guide you.  I see great things coming your way.  I love you!

Stepping Into My Season: After Cancer Free Diagnosis

24 x 20 acrylic on canvas After my cancer free diagnosis I felt like I could break through and resume my next phase of life.

My Past Is My Future!

16 x 20 acrylic on canvas I was commissioned to paint this piece by a young father who lost his father before his first son was born. It is reminiscent of the past reaching out to connect with his future grandchild. All of the items featured were personal belongings of the grandfather.

Rebirth

12 x 12 acrylic on canvas  After waiting months after surgery and chemo to hear cancer free. It felt like a rebirth.

Cancer - An abstract vision of a Diagnosis

12 x 12 acrylic on canvas This is a painting that I did when I found out I had cancer. I hadn’t told my family at that point but it all felt abstract to me. The lady bug is representative of good luck. The butterfly takes the place of me not being able to speak. There are two sides of this face with the nose being disjointed; which represented my thoughts of my past and my future. At the time I didn’t know what my future held. The ladybug gets smaller in her travel because Faith not luck takes hold. I knew at that moment that it was going to take all the faith I could muster. God reminded me through His Word that it only required faith the size of a mustard seed....so my journey began.

Mardi Gras

16 x 20 acrylic on canvas Inspired by my stay in New Orleans.

Fill Me Up

12 x 16 acrylic on canvas  In the mid night hour Tasha Cobbs was on TV. It was a low point in my journey. As she sang this painting came to me.

Sissy - Living Waters

14 x 18 acrylic on canvas  I painted this for a cousin of mine who was going through cancer at the same time as I was. She was a multitalented individual who loved Jesus. We talked about the highs and lows of our journey. She told me one night she looked to the heavens while laying in her hospital bed and saw stars in the sky that she believed were prayers going up on her behalf. From that conversation this painting came to me. When I presented it to her she saw the painting as Living Waters. She has since passed and I miss her.

Hummingbirds

20 x 20 metallic acrylic on canvas Thought I would paint my annual backyard visitors.

It’s Raining

16 x 20 acrylic on canvas One of those nights to just snuggle and watch a good movie.

Sunrise - Sunset

20 x 20 acrylic on canvas I painted this after watching a Sunrise and Sunset on vacation. I was a little nauseous because of the panoramic view I had overlooking the ocean. I painted a black and white checkered floor to translate the feeling. When I look at the painting I sometimes get a little nauseous.

16 x 20 acrylic on canvas My mother-in-law requested a painting of her house. There is a lot of love in her home.
